Kent with his new F-4 Foil Rig

Thursday Blog supplemental

After Ted left for home the mayhem started.   Blaine really wanted to try the F4 since Kent looked like he was going to get one based on the test ride the day before at the hatchery but the wind was a bit light.   We all headed to Viento.   The wind was quite light so most of the group did not get out on the water.  Blaine and Kent went out on 6.0’s with Blaine testing the F4 flier.   Despite the light wind Blaine was convinced and decided he was going to buy one.

Cam winged.   I am not sure how that went but at the end of the session his wing exploded on the beach.   He thinks it was because it was left in the sun.   All I know is that it was like a shotgun went off in the parking lot.   I was next to a winger when it happened and all he said was “there goes a Carbrinha”….  I guess this is more common than we think!   Cam left the wing in the Hood for repairs.

After that excitement Ross rolled in and said that Stevenson was blowing so we better go.   Ross was on a 4m kite.   Blaine and Brad sailed 3.2’s but later switched to 4.5’s.   Kent was on a 3.9 until 4….  More testing of the foil but bottom line Blaine called Bruce at 4:20, 10 minutes before Sailworks closes, and asked him to prep 2 F4 foils for pick up in the morning!

Avoiding all the excitement Harold, Allan, and Vadim windsurfed on mid 4 to mid 5 stuff all day…

Friday

The crew was much reduced I size on Friday morning.   Blaine, Brad, Harold, Kent, and Ross went for breakfast at the Egg place.   It was awesome!   Then it was time to pull out the check books so we wandered down to Sailworks and picked up 2 new foils.    Bruce had gotten into the shop at 6am to sand Blaine’s new foil and prep it for going FAST!  With new gear in hand there was no way we were not going to sail it so we headed to Stevenson again.   This time it was 3.9’s for Brad, Kent, and Blaine.  Harold, Al, and Vadim windsurfed again on sails ranging from 4.5 to 5.5.   The wind just got steadier as the day went on but we had to pack and start the drive so we all got off the water around 1pm.

Harold and Kent drove to RItzville on Friday then home on Saturday.   I am not sure how far Blaine and Brad got but they were home sometime Saturday.

Over all it was an amazing trip.   Harold windsurfed 10 days in a row so while the wind was not nuking it was pretty darn solid.

Take care and see you all in June next year!
